I am a South Carolina state Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) practicing in the Charleston area. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the College of Charleston and Master's in Clinical Counseling from Wake Forest University.
I have worked in an outpatient therapeutic environment since 2016 with a variety of mental health diagnoses including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, ODD, domestic violence, anger management, parent training, substance abuse, executive functioning skills training, social skills training, and general life transitions and stress.
Prior to pursuing my career in counseling, I started to work in the mental health field as an in-home Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist (now commonly referred to as a Registered Behavior Technician) working specifically with young toddlers, children and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I incorporate a lot of these strategies into my counseling style as well when appropriate for my clients in the form of social skills training, executive functioning skills, and general behavior strategies. I also have experience with Play Therapy techniques and use them when appropriate with my kiddo clients.
I offer effective individualized care using evidenced-based therapeutic techniques combined with an empathetic and strength-based approach. My counseling style heavily emphasizes the therapeutic relationship by creating a non-judgmental, compassionate and safe atmosphere for my clients to explore their desired goals in therapy. I am trained in and specialize in Cognitive Behavioral and Behavioral therapy techniques. I also incorporate a lot of Mindfulness Therapy techniques into my practice for the benefits shown in treatment of numerous mental health concerns and emotional regulation concerns.
Additionally, I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Person-Centered therapy, and (when appropriate!) Play Therapy techniques into treatment.
